AFTER AN OUTREACH …    YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!

Welcome

The people of Africa have generally heard the gospel – now they ‘listen with their eyes’… You will be their witness.

american-youth-team-aug-2003.jpg Join us as we adventure on outreach into Africa. We generally serve on social development programmes or mission stations. For only a short time in your life you will have the opportunity to give something back. Volunteer to help other Christians working to extend His Kingdom in Africa. Then, after you have built into the lives of others, take some time out and have fun on safari exploring South Africa and the wonders of creation!

lesotho-team.jpg We are committed to serve those who feel called on a temporary / voluntary basis, to work in Africa helping in some way to help others and spread the gospel.

Inkosi

Our name Inkosi Africa comes from; ‘Inkosi’ which means Lord, King or Chief. In the Nguni languages the spelling changes from Inkosi to ‘nKosi (or Nkosi) depending on whether it’s Zulu or Xhosa. Translated into Zulu, ‘Our Lord Jesus Christ’ is ‘Inkosi yethu uJesu Krestu’.

black-children-200.jpgInkosi Sikalele Africa’ is the title of a hymn now rewritten and incorporated into our National Anthem and when we sing we pray “Inkosi Sikalele Africa”! “God bless Africa”.

We at Inkosi Africa acknowledge that we serve a wonderful and loving Lord. We will be the catalyst to your African outreach experience. It is through the medium of these tours and outreaches that we all help to extend His Kingdom.

Social Development Programmes

picture-960.gif We go either to urban or rural projects. We go locally or into neighbouring countries (e.g. Moçambique, Lesotho, etc). The projects range from orphanages/children’s homes or building projects or school or agricultural programmes, etc. However, if you have a particular interest (like HIV/Aids babies), or want to do something in particular (like evangelism, a prayer walk, etc), then we will organise it for you.

On outreach

Please download the (free) outreach manual as part of your preparation (in pdf format) at the bottom of the page. This is important reading.
On outreach you will see God’s hand at work in new and often strange surroundings.

girls-in-moz.jpg In addition to a much deeper grasp of the great commission and richness of God’s church and broadness of the family we belong to; outreaches usually result in much spiritual growth. There is an awareness of our responsibility as believers. There is renewed urgency to be in His service. Each individual will have his or her own unique experiences … often too radical to describe or write about…

The Programme

1. Orientation
This is a short period of rest and adaptation (with training) as you adjust to the cultures (yes it will be a culture shock!) and the norms of life in SA. Learn how to greet, what to do and what not to do, and so on.

2. Outreach
This will be either slot into an ongoing programme or designed around the focus of the individual group.

3. Safari
There’s not much point in coming all the way to Africa if you don’t see some of it’s attractions – like the wild animals. So come on safari for a few days. See some of the marvels of God’s creation and unwind in the bush round a campfire after your outreach.

There is nothing a like a time of fellowship around a campfire in the middle of Africa evaluating your outreach and the impact it has had on your life. Spending a few days walking among wild animals discussing issues such as ‘Creation versus Evolution’ (e.g. the giraffe which has a non-return valve in the arteries of it’s upper neck that stops the massive flow of blood rushing to it’s head which would knock it out when it bends down to drink … makes you wonder how many collapsed before evolution miraculously sorted out that problem!).

If you have the time and inclination you may also wish to visit some of the famous historical missionary sites in southern Africa (e.g Moffat, Livingston, etc). These more specialised tours include: “In the Footsteps of Livingstone” and “Remembering Moffat”.
For more information on these tours contact info@inkosiafrica.com.

Please note: It is essential that you prepare before you come on an outreach. Download the manual at the botom of this page to help you prepare.

4. Costs
We are aware of the financial limitations many Christian aid agencies, groups and churches face and therefore endeavour to work within available budgets and try accommodate accordingly.

Outreaches are, where possible, done at cost price. The major influence on cost is generally the distance travelled. Other factors include length of stay and accommodation type, although this is sometimes free (an offering is generally optional) and sometimes even food is included.

ground-squirrel.jpg  The add-on safaris after the outreach are usually tailor made to suit the budget, time available, standard of accommodation required, places you want to visit. Day tours are often at below commercial rates. We also offer advice on all these aspects of your tour from accommodation to destinations. You may also like to visit some of the famous missionary sites in southern Africa (e.g Moffat, Livingston).

Statement of Faith

471565_vic_falls_1.jpg We at Inkosi Africa believe:

  • In the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writings as fully inspired by God, inerrant and authoritative. The Scriptures do not merely contain but are the Word of God and the sole authority in all matters of faith and conduct
  • In one God eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • That Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man
  • That God created man and woman in His own image, that both sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death, physical and spiritual on all mankind.
  • That the Lord Jesus died for our sins, a substitution sacrifice, according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood
  • In the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate and in His personal return
  • In the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit Who convinces of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; who regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates and comforts and in his abiding presence in the true believer
  • We believe that salvation is by the grace of our sovereign God; that by the appointment of the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered a vicarious, expiatory and propitiatory death; that justification is by faith alone in the shed blood of Christ on the cross, the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that those whom God has effectively redeemed shall be divinely preserved and finally perfected in the image of God
  • That all Christians are called to a life of holiness, devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and service for Him
  • In the resurrection both of the just and the unjust, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, and in the judgement and eternal punishment of the wicked
  • In the priesthood of all believers
  • We believe in religious liberty; that every person has the right to practice and propagate his beliefs.
